Payments
Two different kinds of money, kept apart.
Premium. On most policies the carrier bills and collects your premium directly. Where the carrier's contract requires IronKey to collect it, that money goes into a premium trust account, is owed to the carrier from the moment it arrives, and never touches our operating cash. Your receipt names the carrier the premium is held for.
Agency and placement fees. IronKey is the merchant of record and the money goes to operating cash. Any fee is itemised before you pay it.
We never take a card number by phone
If you call and start to read a card number, our assistant will stop you and text you a secure link instead. The call is recorded; your card should not be on it, and we do not want it in our systems. Card data goes straight to our payment processor - IronKey never handles it.
Payments are not enabled in this environment. Stripe status: unconfigured. Set STRIPE_SECRET_KEY and STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET to enable. Nothing is collected and nothing is represented to a customer until it is.
Preferred method
ACH, for premium. It costs less to process and does not carry a card chargeback profile, which matters when the money is being held in trust for someone else. Cards and wallets work too.
Insurance offered through licensed agents. IronKey Care is an independent insurance agency, not an insurer. Availability and eligibility vary by state.
IronKey does not commingle premium with operating funds. Premium trust accounting is maintained per state requirement and reconciled nightly.
